Shipping Line Surcharge and action – ONE Line, Maersk
ONE Line have introduced a transport addition (TAD) surcharge for the movement of containers between Melbourne and Sydney the final port of destination. We are waiting for confirmation of the charge from ONE Line. The communication from ONE is:
“Due to the industrial action in Sydney terminal, following AU1 sailings will omit Sydney. AllSydney inbound shipments will be discharged at Melbourne and re-arrange back to Sydney internally.
To cover the additional operation cost, we are going to impose the new surcharge Transport Additional (TAD)”
This surcharge will be applied for inbound shipments on the below vessels:
- NORTHER JAGUAR v. 033S
- MAERSK Surabaya v. 034S
- SEROJA ENAM v.037S
- CMACGM LOIRE v.039S
Maersk have taken a different position and discharging Sydney containers in Melbourne
making the final destination Melbourne. This leaves importers with the responsibility and cost of moving containers to their final destination of Sydney.
We are yet to confirm the full application of this change. It is yet confirmed if this change is across multiple vessels or a single vessel the Rio De Janeiro V37N.
The empty container handling will be monitored with no indication if the dehire location will be declared as Melbourne or Sydney.
Waterfront industrial action – Patrick Media Statement 14 September 2020
Patrick today have published a Media Statement titled “Patrick calls for calm as MUA industrial action cripples Port Botany”. The statement explains a 40% productivity cut at Patrick’s terminal as the impact of work bans and other industrial action.
The statement further details that shipping schedule delays will grow by approximately half a day for every day the industrial action continues.
